Here at Royal Brock Retirement Living, we pride ourselves on our dining experience. When we opened in January of 2016, we started with 4 residents, all who sat together at a table. As more and more people moved in, the table grew…until one day it became pretty clear that the table was getting too full for the staff to safely maneuver their way around the table, so we had to start separating them.
The residents told us it really was too bad, because they didn’t want to lose the feeling that they had become family in the few shorts weeks that they had spent together. One of the residents, David, spoke up and said “We know it doesn’t make sense to just keep pushing tables together, so I have an idea. Don’t ever tell us where to sit. That way, everyone who moves in will always be greeted by someone different so that they immediately feel they are part of our family”
It was brilliant. We had wanted Royal Brock to feel different from anything any of us who had lived, or worked in the industry had experienced.
If you have ever sat in at a townhall meeting in any retirement home, the biggest concern is always food.
We decided when we opened, that we wanted to hire the best of the best. We focused on hiring professionals with decades of experience in the restaurant industry. Everything is made right here. All of our chefs compliment each other so that every meal is exquisite. From Crystals homemade strawberry cheese cake tarts (that inspired this blog) to Eric’s homemade bread and beaver tails, Tyler’s delectable breakfasts, Mike’s entree’s and chocolate walnut bars or Diego’s soups and sauces. Nothing compares to the dining experience here at Royal Brock Retirement.
Our residents can still enjoy home cooked meals and all of the comfort food they always have. The residents also take great pride in the food, as our dining room is always filled with guests. They can entertain as they always have, with friends and family. The main difference is they don’t have to be in the kitchen all day and they don’t have to do the dishes! They can just enjoy each others company over an incredible meal.
