Here at Royal Brock Retirement, we understand how important the dining experience is for our residents.  Enjoying a meal is not simply how good the food tastes, the presentation and environment all play a huge role in the experience.

We have always had very high standards when it comes to our food.  We employ incredibly talented chefs and there is a lot of planning that goes into the dining experience here.  We don’t want it to feel like a typical retirement home.  We want everyone to feel like they are eating at their favorite restaurant each and every day.

Something everyone who follows us on social media is used to seeing is our fine dining posts.  The food is perfection. As the Marketing Director, on fine dining nights, I set up a little area in the kitchen with a table cloth on it, have the chef prepare a plate, make sure my camera angle and lighting is perfect and I take the pictures for the post.

I don’t want people to think this is the only time we have beautiful food.  It’s not.  I wanted to take the opportunity to let the public know what happens here each and every day.  We know even though the food is great, we can always improve our presentation, so we have started asking the staff to take quick pictures with their cell phones as the food is on the way out to the dining room.  It keeps the chefs motivated to ensure every plate is perfect.

Each month, we choose a winning plate and the chef who prepared it comes forward and receives a gift card. It’s a fun way to recognize their excellence.

We run contests in each and every department.  It’s important to look after our residents, but equally important to recognize how truly wonderful our staff are!
