A Midsummer Night’s Dream Fine Dining

Delightful Delicacies and Shakespearean Soiree: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Fine Dining!

Hark, dear readers, to the tale of an enchanting evening that unfolded in our retirement living haven – an evening that transported us straight into the world of Shakespearean elegance and grace. As the sun dipped below the horizon, our retirement living community came alive with the magic of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” August’s fine dining event. It was a night of culinary wonders, witty words, and whimsical attire.
Residents and staff alike donned their finest regalia, a nod to the Bard himself, and stepped into a realm where sonnets and soliloquies swirled in the air. The occasion was graced by none other than three gallant participants from the forthcoming FANasy Fest Brockville, who added their own touch of fantasy and flair to the gathering. Clad in captivating costumes, they mingled with our residents, creating a tapestry of conversations that blended eras.
Yet, let us not overlook the true stars of the evening – the culinary artists who wove magic into every dish. The menu, carefully curated to please both the palate and the literary sensibilities, took center stage:
For the opening act, a symphony of flavors emerged with the Artichoke & Spinach Dip, flawlessly complemented by house-made bread.
The main course, a choice between Garlic and Herb Roasted Cornish Hens or Grilled Lamb Chops, transported diners to a realm of indulgence. The Cornish Hens, adorned with a blend of thyme, oregano, rosemary, and garlic, offered a poetic harmony of aromas and tastes. Meanwhile, the Grilled Lamb Chops, kissed by Demi-Glace sauce, promised a dance of flavors on the tongue.
Side dishes did not shy away from the limelight. Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes, glistening with lemon and parsley, shared the stage with Green Bean Almandine – a butter-tossed spectacle crowned with sliced almonds.                                                                                                                                                                                                            And then, the crescendo – Red Velvet Cake. This sweet finale, adorned with luscious cream cheese frosting, was a dessert worthy of the finest Shakespearean sonnet. A decadent conclusion to a culinary journey fit for a king.
But what is a feast without a serenade? Enter BARRY  YUEN and HIS TRIO, a musical ensemble that whisked us through the decades with hits from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. Their melodies, like ethereal whispers from another time, filled the air and added an auditory enchantment to the night.
We raise our goblets to the trio from FANasy Fest Brockville, our culinary artisans, and all who made this midsummer night’s dream a reality.
