Annual Oscars Award Fine Dining

Lights, camera, action!

Last night was a star-studded affair as residents and staff at Royal Brock Retirement Living graced the Brock dining room in unparalleled style for the annual Oscars Award Fine Dining. It was an evening of sophistication, exquisite dining, and captivating tunes with applause and flashing cameras.

The culinary journey began with an appetizer: Roasted Garlic and Artichoke Pinwheels. Picture roasted garlic, artichokes, caramelized onions, Parmesan, and cream cheese, all baked into a flaky pastry for a sensational start to the evening.

As the awards unfolded, the spotlight shifted to the main course with Herb-Roasted Cornish Hens, a tantalizing 8oz portion seasoned with thyme, oregano, and rosemary, slow-roasted to a golden brown perfection. The Maple Bacon and Apple Stuffed Pork Tenderloin stole the show, with its succulent pork tenderloin stuffed with sweet maple bacon and apple farce, either choice was accompanied by whipped Yukon gold potatoes and roasted asparagus.

And who could resist the grand finale – a dessert fit for Hollywood royalty? The Sticky Toffee Pudding, a decadent treat of moist sponge cake drenched in a luscious toffee sauce, left everyone craving an encore.

But the real stars of the night were crowned in the form of Royal Brock Retirement Living Oscar winners. Among the residents, George M earned the coveted title of “Most Likely to Attend Activities,” while Marilyn I claimed the Resident Rockstar Award. Malcolm R fearlessly seized the title of “Resident Most Likely to Try Anything Once,” and Heather T became the maestro with “Know the Words to Every Song Played at Entertainment.” Ursula T’s daring palate earned her the distinctive honor of “Most Likely to Eat the Green Beans.”

On the employee front, Stacey C was celebrated with the Wikipedia Award for being the go-to source, right or wrong. Candida P was dubbed “Employee Most Likely to Have Coffee in Hand at All Times,” and Dawn M, the unapologetic “Meeting Hater,” voiced what we were all thinking. Judy S, the unwavering support, was acknowledged as “Employee Most Likely to Have Your Back,” while Scott W, the visionary, earned the title of “Employee Most Likely to Have Already Thought of That.”

As the night continued, the Grand Hall entertained with the live music of Herman Amberger, a lovely ending to a wonderful evening. A heartfelt thank you to the Culinary chefs, Dietary servers, Wellness team, families, and friends who made the night a true spectacle. The stage is set, and we eagerly await next year’s awards for another night of glitz, glamour, and Hollywood magic.
