Oscar Night Fine Dining– Where the Stars Shine!
Last night, the Brock Dining Room transformed into a glittering Hollywood scene as the residents and staff of Royal Brock Retirement Living got dolled up for the annual Oscars Award Fine Dining event. Think glam, glitz, and deliciousness, making everyone feel like a movie star.
We kicked things off with Shrimp Cocktail—succulent chilled shrimp served with tangy red cocktail sauce and garnished with a lemon wedge. It was the perfect opening act. For the main event, guests had the choice between Chicken Saltimbocca and Eggplant Parmesan. The Chicken Saltimbocca featured a 5oz chicken breast wrapped in thinly sliced Italian ham, with sage, herbs, and spices. Seared and roasted, served with a rich garlic cream sauce. Eggplant Parmesan was breaded slices of eggplant baked in a savory tomato sauce with basil, oregano, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese—a vegetarian delight. Both dishes were accompanied by Winter Ratatouille—a roasted blend of squash, zucchini, peppers, onions, and diced tomatoes, seasoned with herbs, salt, and pepper—and Dauphinois Potatoes—thinly sliced potatoes baked in cream and cheese. And for the grand finale—Apple Streusel Pie. Sweet, spiced Jonathon apples baked in a buttery 9-inch shell, topped with a crisp streusel topping.
But it wasn’t just the food that stole the show. The Royal Brock Oscars were in full swing! Heather H. bagged the Most Creative award, Louanne B. was named Hearty Hugger, Ray S. earned the title of Fastest Wheelchair, Heather T. walked away with the Germ Slayer award, and Ramonde D. took home the coveted Bookworm award.
The staff shone too! Debbie L. was crowned Most Likely to Have Snacks, Michelle S. was the Most Likely to Sneeze, and Scott W. was recognized as Best at Lifting the Mood. Shelley B. was named the Supreme Sarcastic Specialist, while Andrew M. received the Squirrel Award.
With live tunes from Peter Foret filling the air, it was the perfect way to end a night of Hollywood magic. Thanks to everyone who made it happen—we can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
