Last night’s “Jingle Bell” fine dining event marked the grand finale of our monthly celebrations in 2023, and what a festive evening it was! Royal Brock Retirement Living residents and staff donned their Christmas best, creating a spirited atmosphere. In a surprising twist, Deputy Grinch from the Brockville Fire Department made a mischievous appearance, spreading laughter and joy as he handed out his “stolen” candy to delighted residents and staff.

The evening’s culinary journey began with reindeer bite appetizers – Quiche Lorraine, 4” pie shells filled with a heavenly mix of eggs, bacon, and cheddar cheese, baked to golden perfection. The Elfin’ entree options were equally spectacular – residents indulged in either Grilled Lamb Chops, 4oz of New Zealand Lamb grilled to perfection and braised to fall off the bone, served with mint sauce, or the exquisite Roasted Chicken Supreme, a 6oz chicken breast seasoned with Thyme, Oregano, and Rosemary, pan-seared and roasted to perfection, accompanied by cranberry chutney. Snowman side dishes included heavenly Butter Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes and Roasted Root Vegetables featuring a medley of carrots, parsnips, and beets. To sweeten the festivities, the night concluded with a merry morsel dessert – Apple Crumble Pie, a classic apple pie topped with a delightful crumble.

It was an evening of culinary delights, smiles, and holiday spirit, making it a fitting finale to our year of fine dining celebrations! The night rocked around the Christmas tree with an Elvis tribute by the fabulous Dan Champagne, with a little hip-swaying magic for all ages. A special thanks to Deputy Grinch from the Brockville Fire Department, our culinary masters and servers with smiles as bright as Rudolph’s nose, and the wellness staff who keep us all in tip-top holiday shape.
