Painting in the Garden: Creativity, Community & Summer Joy
Sometimes it’s the simplest activities that create the most meaningful moments.
Recently, our residents enjoyed an afternoon of Painting in the Garden, where creativity flourished alongside the beautiful blooms in our outdoor spaces. While some residents picked up a paintbrush, others simply enjoyed watching the artists at work, chatting with friends, and taking in the colours of summer.
The painting session was made even more special by members of our local artists’ group, who regularly gather in our Sadler Room—a space with a story all its own.
The room is named after our very first residents, Phyllis and Art Sadler. When Phyllis first saw the room and its beautiful skylight, she remarked, “This should be an art gallery!” Her wonderful suggestion inspired us to transform the space into exactly that—a welcoming place where residents and local artists can create, display, and even sell their artwork. It’s become a vibrant hub for creativity and connection within our community.
We are fortunate to have many talented artists among our residents. One remarkable resident, who is nearly 106 years old, continues to paint alongside her equally talented daughter. Their passion for art is inspiring and reminds us that creativity has no age limit.
At Royal Brock Retirement, community is at the heart of everything we do. Our home has been shaped by the stories, passions, and ideas of the people who live here. Whether it’s creating an art gallery, sharing a hobby, or simply spending time together outdoors, it’s our residents who make Royal Brock Retirement such a special place.
Our gardens are one of the greatest sources of joy for many residents, and we make the most of them whenever the weather allows. They provide the perfect setting to relax, create, connect, and enjoy the beauty of each season.
We hope you enjoy these snapshots from our Painting in the Garden afternoon—a celebration of creativity, friendship, and the wonderful community we are proud to call home.
